Shabby Chic Note Cards

Take your Dusty Concord Distress Ink Pad and apply to your Ink Blending tool. Starting off the side of the paper, blend in small circles toward the center. Do this around the entire outside of the card, leaving the very center white. Dry completely with a heat gun.

Ink up your image stamp with Dusty Concord Distress Ink. Stamp your image slightly to the left of the card. When Image is stamped, apply Perfect Pearls Forever Violet to most of the stamped image. Highlight the image with the Perfect Pearls Interference Violet. Although Distress Inks are a Dye Ink, they are formulated to stay wet longer than most dye inks and work wonderfully for this technique. Dry completely with a heat gun.

Spritz card lightly with water, allowing the water to run the stamped image slightly. The Perfect Pearls will stay where they have been applied. Let sit for about 30 second to one minute and dry again with your heat gun. The stamped image will have run slightly and the water droplets will have faded the blended ink where they have fallen for an aged appearance.

When this is done, take your VersaMark Ink Pad and ink up your sentiment stamp. Apply to the lower right corner of your card. Take your Dusty Concord Distress Embossing Powder and thoroughly apply to sentiment. Heat with heat gun (Tip: If you heat your embossing powders from the underside of the card they will not blow away, giving you a more complete coverage.) This type of embossing powder will only show a subtle change when it is heated so you will have to watch it carefully. Allow embossed area to cool. Once cooled down, take your finger and brush with a bit of pressure over the embossed area. Some of the powder will come off, this is to be expected to achieve the aged look.

Now you have a wonderful vintage look card, complete with enough shimmer to give it a Shabby Chic glamour. This technique can easily be repeated with other colors of Distress Inks and Distress Powders to make a wonderful gift set as well.
